Building your Reaper v2

8/15/2022

Lets start with what the Reaper v2 was designed for... The Reaper v2 is a comp focused chassis with a high degree of breakover in the skid area.
Picture
What does that mean? This means the skid area of the chassis is higher in the rear, this allows for a better breakover once the front portion of the skid is over an obstacle the rest should follow much easier being that is is higher. this is great when it comes to a pure comp based rig. but does bring up issues when it comes to drivetrain, but we will talk about that latter.

Lets get down to the build:

Materials
  1. t700 carbon fiber- strong, extremely lightweight. most popular choice for comp rigs. (not for trail running)
  2. aluminum 7075- very strong, lightweight and good for trailing (won't rust)
  3. titanium- thinner then all the rest of the materials, crazy strong and great for trailing or comp.
  4. steel- thick, super heavy but also super strong. great for a truggy due to welding, great trail choice. (will rust if not painted or treated)

Alright now that you have your material lets talk about if you want to run a Forward motor mount or not.

forward motor mount: This chassis is designed to run the Team garage hack forward motor mount (in mirrored form) this allows you to run the motor up front tight to the rails to get the best forward weight biased you can. if you go this route you will want to pick an offset front axle. if running a fmm setup this will  make you need to run a t-case setup and that as of now (8/15/2022) gives you more points in a sorrca based competition. But if you want to run a fmm setup this is what you will be needing.

These parts allow you to run a fmm setup in the reaper. spur locker is always suggested, spur gear would be up to you on what pitch you like. i would suggest 54t or below in 32p and 87t and below in 48p.
spacer gives you a little extra room so items don't hit when together. (remember fmm needs to be mirrored)

Next lets talk about t-case setups!!

now if you are running a fmm setup you will need a t-case. this item transfers the power from your motor and spur gear to your axles via driveshaft hooked up between the all outputs.
1.first and most popular setup is the TGH creeper-t t-case. this t-case is very nice, well built and can take a world of punishment and laugh at you. all cnced aluminum case with strong outputs. a plus this t-case gives you 30% Overdrive to the front axle.(you will need to mirrior this t-case to work properly) this t-case has an scx10 bolt pattern on the bottom and will need our angled skid for it. Angled skid? yep you read that correctly, we have designed skids specifically for the reaper. these skid adjust the drivetrain back to level in the chassis. you can see this in the top picture. though we have that amazing breakover in the chassis, the drivetrain sits nice and level. no crazy angles here!! for the t-case setup all you need is the 70mm wide skid. if this sounds like the setup you want here are the parts needed. You also need 3 driveshafts for this setup, the dlux listed below are a cut to length. so you will need to cut them to size (very easy)

2nd popular t-case setup is our very own t-case setup,

now this one comes with its very own skid that has no

holes underneath to get caught on rocks. also our t-

case setup give you 26% underdrive to the rear. carbon

fiber plates bolted to the skid from on top. extremely

strong setup and butter smooth!! if this if what you

are looking for here is your link and items needed for

it. You will want to order the angled 70mm one for

this chassis. again 3 driveshafts are needed for this

setup. the dlux will allow you to cut each driveshaft

to the length needed.

If you do not plan to run a forward motor mount setup its a little easier for you, just pick what skid is needed per your trans. popular trans i will list the products needed.

TGH 2 low you will need the following, scx10 angled skid 78mm wide and TGH adapter plate for the trans. this plate allows you to change the transmission bolt patter on the bottom to scx10 bolt pattern. this will then allow you to bolt it to our skid. here are the products. 2- driveshafts needed for this setup.

now some have made the 70mm skids work but the chassis does get tight in the center when it comes to that, so buyer beware you will have to make things work. otherwise purchase the 78mm wide skid and be good to go. parts below. 2- driveshafts needed for this setup. pinon is based on driver.

Alright you have your picks so far lets talk axle mounted servo or chassis mounted servo...

This topic is going to be based on if you plan to run 4 link (axle mounted servo) or 3 link (chassis mounted servo)

4 link- this is up to you on axle mounted servo choices, per your axle.

3 link- chassis mounted servo, the reaper is designed to run our cms kit it comes in 2 sizes 70mm and 78mm. if running the tgh forward motor mount setup you should choose the 70mm setup. also for a second lets talk about that. the TGH is made at 67mm wide, then our cms is made to 70mm (common front width) what does this mean? you can add spacers on the fmm, I typically don't like this choice. me personally I take the cms and shave 1.5mm off each side (3mm total) to make the cms and the fmm the same width. allows the front to be even and strong. our cms kits come with a panhard mount and are linked below. Link kits typically come with all links needed, but I also added an choice below from ssd as a great tuning style links to have being double bent. never hurts to have choices!

Link kits! we have you covered with links from In the works rc. the kits we have made are from titanium, super lightweight but yet strong! on the reaper we always suggest having straight front lowers (gives you just a good smooth transition from link to skid) then high clearance bends in the rear for that killer room over the rocks!! link to the link kits below!

AXLES?
Well really this is up to you! but if doing a fmm setup we highly suggest and offset front axle.
can they be portals? ohhh you betcha!!
we stock straight and portals for this reason! link kits we have ar44 and ar45 kits. ar45 kits will work with vanquish f10 portals. trx-4 and capra axles you will need custom links.
supershafty cp43 I have been told that the ar45 will work but you will have to get fancy with the front links. (meaning time to make your own or somehow make the ones in the kit work) think outside the box!!! couple axle choices below!

Now you pretty much have what you need to make a podium proven setup!! braces and all extras are up to you and per your build!!

BODY MOUNTS- We always highly suggest our unicorn body mounts! lexan or hard body, it will hold both! also acts as a brace! products linked below!

Braces-we sell printed and aluminum for you. just mind your width and where you are placing them on your chassis. carbon fiber is 3mm thick ( so if you are planning on running them in the shock tower area and inside your rails is 70mm and your shock towers are mounted on the outside then your width inside the shock hoops would be 76mm, so purchase 78mm and shave them down) Parts are linked below.

SLIDERS- we do sell some! you can drill the sides to accept a metal tube or rod, this allows you to get metal slider points as long as the tub or rod protects the body. You can also drill and put a long set screw in them to hold your hard body on. They are angled at the bottom to match chassis but sit level. part is linked below.

Electronics fully up to you but we will link some amazing products below that we know work and have been on tons of podiums! we stock what we know works!!

Lets talk How to build your Razors Edge!

8/15/2022

Ok first of lets talk about what the razors edge is built for... So this chassis was developed for the class 1 sorrca runners in mind. based off the reaper v2 but with a flat skid section, this allows this chassis to be sorrca class 1 legal! it has been a podium proven extremely capable platform.
Now with that said can it be a class 2 or a trail rig. heck yes!! this chassis is a killer trail rig, mainly for the fact that all the rails are cut from metal. (no carbon or g10) all steel, aluminum or titanium. makes it an awesome trail runner choice. so with that said let us talk about how to build one.

1st off material choice:

STEEL- thickest, heaviest, weldable going to take the most abuse and laugh at you...does come raw and will rust. $

ALUMINUM- not as thick as steel, much lighter, weldable if you know how to tig. this is 7075 aluminum so very good weight to strength ratio and will never rust. $$

TITANIUM- Thin, lightweight and takes a lot of abuse with no issues.

Next question I get a lot: Will the chassis pull into 67 or 70mm front and rear if I run a 78mm (stock width) skid?
Yes aluminum and titanium will, I will say now steel might but get ready for a fight, they are thick steel chassis!! LOL. So i say if you are wanting to pinch the chassis, titanium will be the easiest (being that it is thin) aluminum next.

 Here is the next question...

Are you wanting to run forward motor mount? if yes here you go:
razors edge is designed to run the team garage hack forward motor mount. (only after you mirror it) this means you will want to switch the forward motor mount shaft and ends around to allow it to mount the correct way. I always suggest running the spur locker and a kimbrough spur gear (54 or less 32pitch, 87 or less 48 pitch) You will also want the shim to space the spur gear away from hitting the fmm.

after that you will need to find out which t-case you would like to run... choice are tons!! but most used is team garage hack creeper-t (this give your 30% OD to the front) great solid choice and butter smooth, these bolt to an scx10 bolt pattern skid. I highly suggest our 70mm high clearance scx10 skid. creeper-t comes with a small wedge that you will want to install on the bottom of the t-case to level the mounting up on the skid. !!the creeper-t  t-case will have to be mirrored to fit the setup!!

Another t-case choice is our very own CCW t-case combo. Ours gives your 26% UD to the rear axle, comes with a skid and has 0 holes on the bottom of the skid to keep you from getting hung up. very nice and smooth setup. you will want to purchase the flat 70mm t-case combo.

next! you will want to pick your axles...
highly suggest if you are running a forward motor mount to run an offset front axle. this allows the driveshafts to run away from the motor and forward motor mount itself. can you run a center pumpkin axle for sure! but it will get very tight in the front of the chassis.

Can I run portals?: you freaking betcha!!

Links:(under intheworks rc on the website) very easy, pick your axle and then if you are running axle mounted servo then you need 4 link
running Chassis mounted servo then you need 3 link
(now sometimes the front is extremely tight, sometimes you have to think outside the box for the 3rd upper link. outside the chassis mounting, bending etc... it has been done a million times no worries it will work!)

chassis mounted servo?(requires the setup to be 3 link) yes, the razors edge was designed to run our cms kit. I suggest running our 70mm cms kit. on this kit since the tgh forward motor mount is 67mm wide. I always suggest sanding or grinding the sides of the cms to get it to 67mm (literally taking 1.5mm off each side) boom that will make your front end even and straight.

can i run tgh, or a laydown servo mount. Sure you can run whatever you want. just know that it is not designed to run that so it will not be a bolt and go style. but yes plenty have used items like this. you might have to drill holes or tap an item (know this is all on  you and if you drill too large of a hole or such that allows the chassis to break. that is on you!!)

center trans setup: super easy section, pick your trans then pick our skid that works with that trans. if it is a wide trans (2low,salinas etc... stay with 78mm wide) if it is a smaller trans (dlux hamberger, cheese etc... you can get by with a 70mm wide skid but it does get tight)

2low trans setup: use our 78mm scx10 high clearance skid plus the tgh 2low adapter plate (once you screw the adapter to the transmission the adapter turn the mounting points to an scx10 pattern, this will allow you to bolt it to our skid)

driveshafts: my 3 choices I always go with is dlux, supersahfty or sdi prop shafts.

dlux ones are cut to length ones (super easy) you will need 3 for a fmm setup or 2 for a center trans setup.

after this the rest is really builders choice..

Body mounts: always suggest using our unicorn body mounts

braces: we have printed braces, aluminum braces and magneisum braces. printed braces can be cut to length needed or grinded down.

Bumpers: per your build and what is needed... we stock tgh modular bumper setup and they are super nice and a good start if you need to braze a custom one.

sliders/electronic plates:
we don't offer any for the razors edge but punks 3d and various other vendors 3d print some nice ones out there.

Thank you so much for the love and support!! Hope this helps! If you have anymore questions please visit our fan page on Facebook to talk to others about their amazing builds!! CLICK BELOW!!
